The idea for Scribbling Succotash came when I realized that I could no longer sit around and wait to hear back from prospective agents anymore. I was going STIR CRAZY! I had to do something, but what? I had already written my book, queried a million agents, and was now playing the unenviable waiting game. Short of stalking these agents (which I do via Twitter), there wasn't much else.

So why a blog? Why NOT a blog? It's a great way to keep busy and what fun if I can connect with other writers who are in the same boat! And if nothing else, it's a great way to whine and complain to someone else aside from my husband. (He thanks you from the bottom of his heart.)

(I wrote the above 2 paragraphs in 2012 when I first started SS! for all the aforementioned reasons. Now I turn towards this space once again, to its blank screen and flashing cursor, to find the patience and motivation to begin Adventure #2. 

In the past year, I have revised my ms, found an agent, and started baking a little bun in the oven. I'm due in early November and as you can imagine, my husband and I are thrilled. That, and terrified, each for different reasons: He fears sleepless nights and dirty diapers. I fear losing my freedom to write. Isn't that funny? I'm worried about no longer being creative as I am literally creating life.

It has been a big year and I hope the next 12 months will bring just as many happy changes.)
