Annoying crap people say when they learn that I write YA ...
"Is it like Harry Potter?"
No, it is not.
"You just sit and make stories up. How hard can it be?"
Very hard, dip stick. Very hard.
"Writing isn't work. You're at home everyday!"
Yeah, it's called working from home.
"I'm going to write a book too!"
OK. About what?
"It takes you THAT long to write a book?!"
Yes.
"I can't write. I'm just not good at it."
You're probably right. You know why? Because you don't ever practice! Writing is a skill like any other. You don't just wake up one day and pen an epic novel because of some mysterious unexplainable talent!
